The tween Sephora syndrome is one more proof that gross inequality is a terrible affliction—these kids have too much $$$$$ available to them, and some parents obviously think giving them no-max credit cards completely fulfills the parental role.

As for Greek institutions in colleges, they’re simply one more highly exclusive entry point for that same inequality, which will be advantageous for those few accepted, insofar as $$$$$ and career may be concerned. But the relentless requirement for sameness kills creativity and renders its subjects unhappy, mediocre, cardboard cutouts. Towing the beauty pageant/tradwife line for life seems way too high a price to pay (although Ballerina Farm’s Hannah Neeleman has accepted plying sympathy for her role as part of her business model and ad campaigns). For me, the article on menopause says it all: in old age I’ve accidentally discovered the wondrous blessing of invisibility. I am free at last—free AT LAST—thank the stars I am free, at last. ✨🌟⭐️✨
