Hello Book Clubbers, and welcome to Week 15. Thank you very much for participating in Saturday’s discussion — and a special thanks to facilitators Camille, Wes, Elise, and Trevor. Also, congratulations to Jennifer for winning the raffle. If you couldn’t make our session, we missed you — and we’re looking forward to seeing you back next time.

This week, we don’t have a new essay to read. Instead, we have a break to reflect and act. (You can think of this as a week-long version of what we usually do in 7 minutes.)

Many of our groups have been pondering: What can and should we do with the reading we’re doing, the knowledge we’re gaining, the truth we’re seeing? If you seek guidance on this question, I encourage that you read the piece that Trevor suggested in the chat – “What Is Vital To Your Survival?” by Ijeoma Oluo. Already, several of you have let me know that you’ve found the article helpful and powerful.

There’s no requirement to share your reflections and actions with the group, but if you would like to, that’s what the comment section is for! I’m sure your fellow book clubbers (and I!) would like to hear from you.

And in case you want to get a good start on Module 5, here’s our reading schedule for the next month. I’ll say again: Look at how short these upcoming essays are!

I’ll be back next week with an introduction to “Punishment,” by Bryan Stevenson, one of my favorite people. Most likely I’ll also have an update about whether I’ll be able to attend next month’s discussion or if it falls directly during my niece’s graduation ceremony. Either way, the show will go on! and you’ll be in good and caring hands.

Have a great week, everyone. Thank you again for being part of our book club.
