Hello dear reader! It is Memorial Day weekend here in the U.S. and weirdly - or not so weirdly - it can be grief-y for me. My dad served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years, so even when he was alive I always thought about him. And when we were together, he’d like to use it as an excuse to grill. He was a charcoal grill kind of guy. And as a new grill owner (I got a gas grill) I can completely respect the art form of charcoal grilling.
It’s the first Memorial Day weekend with my own grill (I love it, it is my FAVORITE purchase of 2026 so far). And I can’t help but wonder what it would have been like to have him over so we could grill hamburgers together (we both liked every topping on a burger!).
So I say this to you dear reader to let you know that there is no MGC newsletter this week. Just me in a puddle of feelings (maybe tears) leaning on my grief support group that I will be hosting this weekend. Maybe you’re also in a puddle of feels. And that is ok. Know that I am also out here, feeling the same. And so you are not alone.
I will see you again in two weeks!
Big hugs.
